JWS has hatched some chickens. We have patiently been awaiting their arrival in the incubator. We have two in the brooder now and more on the way.
We would like to thank everyone who came out and supported the Empty Bowls Dinner. You made it a great success. We would also like to thank Oppenheimer Family Fund and Benton House for attending the event. We raised $735 for Benton House, which is an organization that helps people right here in Bridgeport.
Bravo for the Broadway Show!!!
JWS music teacher (Ms. Saunders) and students held a Broadway Night on 5/28/15 at 5:30. It consisted of songs and scenes from Oliver and Annie. We would like to thank everyone involved in the show and any families that came to see the show. It was SPECTACULAR!!!

JWS Parent Advisory Committee hosted a parents "We Are Great Day". There was haircuts, manicures, Mary Kay, art activities,and Zumba with Michelle. Our parents are GREAT. See pics below.
CPS Perfect Attendance Award on May 2015 we're excited to attend the production of "The Little Mermaid" at Chicago's Shakespeare Theater at Navy Pier on Saturday July 25th. We wanted to congratulate the students with perfect attendance during the month of May in Rooms 101, 102, 103 & 106.
Family Reading Night on Oct.1, 2015 was great. There were reading rooms with activities, parent presentations, raffles, and a wonderful book fair. Thank you everyone for attending and a special thank you to our visitors from Network 6 and the Chicago Public Library (Brian Zehr, Elizabeth Griffith, Judith Camacho, and Brandy Morrill).
JWS Halloween Walkathon was a great success. We raised $11,004.10. The two rooms with a 100% of students donating was 101 and 103. Sydney Choi from room 202 brought in the top amount of donations at $315. We also had fun reading with our reading buddies. Thank you everyone for making this event such a great one.
James Ward School has the "Power of One"
Saturday Nov. 21, 2015 JWS had our 3rd Annual Harvest Feast in honor Anna Lopez. Their was an art activity, a music activity, and a wonderful Thanksgiving Feast. We want to thank everyone who helped and attended the event. It could not have been done without everyone's hard work and wonderful food donations for the feast.
The JWS Production of Peter Pan was fabulous! Three performances were done on Dec. 8th & 9th.

Gung Hay Fat Choy! Happy New Year! JWS celebrated Chinese New Year by starting off with activities at the school then going on the parade in Chinatown then to a FABULOUS luncheon at Lee Wing Wah Restaurant.Everyone had a great time!
JWS had a Valentine's Day Dance on Feb. 12th for all grade levels. The students enjoyed dancing and socializing with their friends. Several parents attended the dance with their children. Fun was had by all.
JWS had its GREAT DAY on June 21st. There were blowup rides, a zoo, ponies,a carnival, food, cotton candy and a great DJ. Lots of our families attended, some of our previous families also attended. It was great to spend the day with everyone.
Mrs. Norville ran the Chicago Marathon 26.2 miles in 4.58 minutes and 28 seconds. Her Ward School family was out there to cheer her on. We are sooo proud of her. Alice and William's Rewer's Aunt Tracy was also in the marathon.

In October as part of the second step program JWS showed it's appreciation for grandparents with "Grandparents Day". The students were very happy to have their grandparents there.
JWS had a wonderful end of year holiday event. Starting with an awesome holiday show, a visit by Santa, a stocking workshop, and classroom activities.
JWS PAC had a Parents Workshop Day. The parents created things, socialized with other parents, and had a great day. Just look at what they created!!! Then they had an awesome cookie decorating event with over two dozen people attending.

Gung Hay Fat Choy! Chinese New Year's Day of 4715 January 28, 2017. Year of the Rooster. JWS had activities, marched in a parade, and had a fabulous luncheon.
Ms. Anderson really hit a home run with her "teamwork reading challenge". She read to each class and gave them a baseball souvenir.
JWS held a 4 week computer course for parents. It covered google drive, google docs, google sheets, google slides and internet safety. Mrs. Anderson states "I am very proud of our parents for completing the course". More pictures to come.
JWS had "Twin Day"
JWS Honor's Day Assembly was June 19th, 2017. Congratulations to everyone who met their goals. It was an awesome day. Congrats to Mrs. Slowik who is retiring this year...We will miss you!
JWS PC had a family dance. Everyone really enjoyed themselves. Thank you to everyone that helped with this event.
JWS had a busy Saturday. Lots of families met at the Family Fun Run and others volunteered at the beautification of the front of JWS. We thank everyone who made our Saturday so wonderful. We could not of done it without everyone's help.
Leslie WOWed the audience at the Honor's Day Assembly on 6/19/17 with her version of "All of Me" by John Legend.

The 7th and 8th grade team hosted our 2nd Annual James Ward Alumni High School Fair on Thursday, November 16th. 31 graduates of James Ward School representing 13 CPS High Schools met with our 7th and 8th grade students to share their experiences and answer questions for our students. As our 8th graders are preparing to apply to high school, this was a wonderful event to bring our former and current students together.
The fourth grade Choir went to sing holiday songs for the senior group at Armour Square Park. The seniors were very appreciative of the students coming to sing for them.
Our NJHS students painted a holiday tree to represent our school in the IIT Chinatown Festival of Trees (in collaboration with CBCAC).
