Welcome to 3rd grade Literacy and Social Studies :)

    Welcome back to school jaguars!  I am so happy to be your teacher for the upcoming year.  We will focus on literacy while exploring many different cultures around the world.  It is my goal to create independent, tolerant, and responsible children through integrated units that explore different experiences.  In addition, my students practice yoga and social emotional learning daily.  I teach to the whole child in order to help them grow.

    My favorite things to do include meditation, traveling the world, and yoga.  I come from a diverse family background with grandparents from Ecuador, China, Germany, and Italy.   As a result, I have visited 6 of the 7 continents with my family.  We love to explore new places, culture, and people.  These experiences have helped me grow as a teacher and as a person.  It has also taught me to love and appreciate all children.

    This is my 20th year as a third grade teacher at James Ward Elementary.  I hold endorsements in English Second Language k-9,  Middle School,  Social Studies, and Language Arts.  I also attended the University of Michigan for undergraduate school with a focus on Political Science.  My Masters in Education is from DePaul University where we focused on urban education.  After DePaul, I took an additional 45 hours of graduate courses that focused on race and culture, art history, and mental health for children. 

 

¡Bienvenidos de nuevo a la escuela, jaguares! Estoy muy feliz de ser su maestra para el próximo año. Nos enfocaremos en la alfabetización mientras exploramos diferentes culturas alrededor del mundo. Mi objetivo es crear niños independientes, tolerantes y responsables a través de unidades integradas que exploran diferentes experiencias. Además, mis estudiantes practican yoga y aprendizaje socioemocional a diario. Enseño a los niños en su totalidad para ayudarlos a crecer.
    Mis cosas favoritas para hacer incluyen la meditación, viajar por el mundo y el yoga. Vengo de un entorno familiar diverso con abuelos de Ecuador, China, Alemania e Italia. Como resultado, he visitado 6 de los 7 continentes con mi familia. Nos encanta explorar nuevos lugares, culturas y personas. Estas experiencias me han ayudado a crecer como maestra y como persona. También me han enseñado a amar y apreciar a todos los niños.
    Este es mi vigésimo año como maestra de tercer grado en la escuela primaria James Ward. Tengo certificaciones en inglés como segundo idioma desde preescolar hasta el noveno grado, secundaria, estudios sociales y artes del lenguaje. También asistí a la Universidad de Michigan para la licenciatura con un enfoque en ciencias políticas. Mi maestría en educación es de la Universidad DePaul, donde nos enfocamos en la educación urbana. Después de DePaul, tomé 45 horas adicionales de cursos de posgrado que se centraron en raza y cultura, historia del arte y salud mental para niños.

同时探索世界各地的许多不同文化。我的目标是通过探索不同体验的综合单元，培养独立、
宽容和负责任的孩子。此外，我的学生每天练习瑜伽和社会情感学习。我教的是全人教育，
帮助他们成长。我最喜欢做的事情包括冥想、环游世界和瑜伽。我的家庭背景多元化，祖父母来自厄瓜多尔、
中国、德国和意大利。因此，我和我的家人访问了七大洲中的六个。我们喜欢探索新的地方、
文化和人。这些经历帮助我成长为一名教师和一个人。它也教会了我去爱和欣赏所有的孩子。
   这是我在詹姆斯沃德小学担任三年级老师的第20个年头。我持有 k-9 英语第二语言、
中学、社会研究和语言艺术的认可。我还在密歇根大学读本科，主修政治学。
我的教育学硕士学位是在德保罗大学获得的，
我们专注于城市教育。在德保罗大学之后，我又选修了 45 
个小时的研究生课程，重点是种族和文化、艺术史和儿童心理健康。
