Hello parents, I’m Ms. Jian and this is my 11^th year teaching at James Ward School. In fact, I have been teaching ESL over 30 years. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s degree in Bilingual Education. My teaching experience and cultural background will definitely help me support our newcomers academically and culturally. I am very happy that I have been able to assist the new immigrant students and their families and the Ward community with my skills and language background.

      In our EL/Newcomer Program, our focus is to help students develop English language proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing within three years so they can transition to the monolingual classroom. It’s not an easy job to achieve our goal, however, with your support and cooperation with our students, I am sure, together, and we can make it！

  家长您好，我是简老师，这是我在华德小学教书的第11年。实际上，我教英语作为第二语言已经超过30年了。我拥有英语学士学位和双语教育硕士学位。我的教学经验和文化背景无疑能在学术和文化方面帮助我们的新移民学生。我非常高兴我能用我的技能和语言背景帮助新移民学生和他们的家庭以及华德社区。

  在我们的英语学习者/新生课程计划上，我们的重点是帮助学生在三年内提高英语的听、说、读和写能力，以便他们能够顺利过渡到英语为教学语言的教室。要达到我们的目标并不容易，但是，家长们，我相信在你们的支持和学生的配合下，我们共同努力一定能达成我们的目标！
